Ready to practice! How can we defend ourselves against extremism and violent radicalisation calling?

The project PRACTICE has reached its turning point and we are ready to go in schools!

After a first research phase to analyse the national contexts, the existing gaps and the current needs of teachers and education practitioners, the project partners – expert organisations in the field of education – have elaborated an innovative CPD programme addressed to secondary school teachers, that is ready to be tested.

The programme has at its main focus the competences related to Critical Thinking as a protective factor against radicalisation processes.

The CPD programme includes training modules for teachers about the following main areas:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Digital Awareness
  • Active Listening and Open Communication
  • Open Mindedness and Creative Thinking
  • Intercultural Awareness
  • Conflict Resolution

Moreover, the programme wants to support teachers in addressing safely and constructively with their students, controversial issues that can be difficult to handle. Therefore, the CPD programme includes a catalogue of more than 50 non-formal education activities to facilitate discussions in classroom around the topics of:

  • Migration
  • Gender
  • Culture and Identities
  • Online Life, Hate speech and Cyberbullying
  • Discrimination and Rights
  • Global Conflicts and Human Rights

The project partners met last month (14-15 November 2019) in Innsbruck, Austria to plan the activities to involve teachers and students in their countries to test the CPD programme developed.

In each country, a training for teachers will be organised. Teachers will learn more about the topics above-mentioned and will implement practical activities with their students, to stimulate exchange of ideas and critical thinking of their students, with the support of the trainers of the organisation in their country. The teachers will be called afterword to become ambassadors with other colleagues, to involve other teachers in the learning process.

The teachers will receive a certificate for the validation of the competences acquired.
