The PRACTICE project is coming to an end and the last few months have been full of activities, events and initiatives designed to disseminate as much as possible the results achieved and the products developed.
The partners met online on October 14th to go through all the stages of the project, analyze the impact achieved and share lessons learned and opportunities for improvement for the future.
We reflected on what has been done and what still remains to be done to promote the role of schools as a fundamental link in the chain of prevention of radicalisation, and to plan the future steps to continue working on these topics.
In the last two years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the partners have faced many difficulties in involving schools, teachers and students in testing the training programme designed for them, at a time of great restrictions, confusion and needs that the education system has had to face.
However, these difficulties allowed us to challenge ourselves and find creative solutions to spread the project’s results and products even further. In fact, there were many additional beneficiaries that we involved in our activities, in addition to high school teachers and students as our main target: primary and pre-primary school teachers, university teachers and students of communication and pedagogy, future teachers during their pre-teaching training, young immigrants, educators and trainers working with different target groups. In this way we were able to test the great flexibility, usability and adaptability of the contents developed within the PRACTICE training programme.
We participated in events, international conferences and round tables, in order to reach as many teachers and educators as possible. Each partner also organised a local event to promote the final results of the project: here in Palermo, the event was hosted by ICS Rita Borsellino and was attended by many teachers, representatives of the Municipality of Palermo and the University of Palermo, as well as members of local associations, educators and other stakeholders.
More than 100 teachers have already benefited directly from the training within the PRACTICE project in 6 European countries, but the products developed, training materials, research and practical activities to be used in the classroom will remain available and free for anyone who may find them useful for their daily educational practice.
